A Funny Site of the Day with Mike Durrett


Animator-turned-live-action-director Tim Burton ("Beetlejuice," "Edward Scissorhands," "The Nightmare Before Christmas") has returned to devilish roots with this strange series of Web cartoons at AtomFilms.

The original Shockwave site noted Stainboy is somewhat of a super hero. "He can't fly around tall buildings, or outrun a speeding train. The only talent he seems to have is to leave a nasty stain.

"Sometimes I know it bothers him, that he can't run or swim or fly. And because of this one ability, his dry cleaning bill's sky-high."

In the opener, "Stainboy Dares to Outstare Staregirl," the title pretty much sums up the action.

I have no idea what this tale is about. More may become clear in future episodes, but for now, confusion seems immaterial because it's all gruesomely amusing, sort of Dr. Seuss meets Charles Addams meets "American Psycho."
