Born 1925: Robert Altman, film director, writer, producer. His comedy credits include directing TV's "The Gale Storm Show" (1956-60) and the films "M*A*S*H" (1970), "Brewster McCloud" (1970), "Nashville" (1975), "The Player" (1992).

Born 1925: Whitney Blake, actress, Dorothy Baxter in the sitcom "Hazel" (1961-65). Co-creator of the TV series "One Day at a Time." Mother of actress Meredith Baxter. Died 2002.

Born 1927: Sidney Poitier, Academy Award-winning actor, "Lilies of the Field" (1963). As a film director, he helmed the comedies "Uptown Saturday Night" (1974), "Let's Do It Again" (1975), "Stir Crazy" (1980), "Hanky Panky" (1982), and "Ghost Dad" (1990).

Born 1946: Sandy Duncan, actress, "$1,000,000 Duck" (1971), "Star Spangled Girl" (1971), "The Cat From Outer Space" (1978), and the TV sitcom "The Hogan Family" (1988-91).

Born 1960: Joel Hodgson, stand-up comedian, writer, host of "Mystery Science Theatre 3000" (1998-93).

Born 1964: French Stewart, actor, "The New WKRP in Cincinnati" (1992-93), "3rd Rock From the Sun" (1996-2001).
